Seven Sisters’ Sonata
Seven Sisters’ Sonata is a unique blend of Chinese chamber music on one of Singapore’s disappearing traditions, the Seven Sisters Festival.
Drawing inspiration from the fabled Chinese Valentine’s Day, this concert explores the origins of this tradition and re-interpret it in an intimate format of Chinese chamber music and dance. Set in Singapore’s iconic Chinatown, journey with our protagonist across time and space as she explores the vivid scenes and characters from this rich heritage location. Come connect the past and present of the fast-disappearing tradition of Seven Sisters’ Festival with us.
This production is part of “Disappearing…” series, produced by Ding Yi Music Company and presented by Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, as part of the SCCC Cultural Extravaganza. The “Disappearing…” series shines the spotlight and pays homage to the fading heritage and vanishing trades of our Singaporean Chinese culture.
